Original title in Tamil, can't read it. This is one of those awesome Tamil bizarro rhythms, lots of breaks and shifts. Its more "villager" style but produced in big city Chennai (digital, heavy compression). Chennai/Madras aka Tollywood is the second biggest film industry after Mumbai/Bollywood. They also do more globalized tracks like the Hindu (language) market, but I like this style better. Picture is a poster for a Hindu (religion) festival which probably makes raves look like naptime.

Tavil is the South Indian version of the North's Tabla. This track is off a 65Rs (1 euro) bargain bin CD. Picture is from a pimped out Tamil film playing in a restaurant in Pondycherry. Nobody drives cars like that in Tamil Nadu. (Picture is embedded in the mp3 so you can see it a bit bigger in yr iTunes)

This is produced entirely with SuperCollider. "what the...?" is something that you hear on TV or see in comics all the time, trailing off to.... some obscenity; or maybe its "heck". I love it. Its like "Cheese Whiz"—what do you think it's short for ? Taking the Lord's name in vain in every convenience store.

Honestly I made this in Garage Band, just to try it out. The loop is from Egyptian Riddim (another amazing don "vendetta" joint); which itself is from some Egyptian record; Vibez Kartel has an amazing voice on this. So me, I bumped it up to 135bpm and stacked it with loping chicago organs and some of that old jack.

Remix for Electric Company. This was done using the short lived beta of SC3 on OS 9. It uses the phase vocoder ugens extensively, especially the one pole filter (used on the time domain signal) which causes time to freeze.

One of all time favorite tracks. It kind of levitates on its mutant groove swamped in a thick gaseous atmosphere. Only release was on one of the Future Perfect CDs. Would have been nice to have been on vinyl too.
