Record Labels
5 December 2004
When you look for a record label, keep in mind that you are (hopefully) going to be friends with the people running the label. Look for people you might want to tour with, do business with, talk about music with and generally enjoy music with. This holds true even for fairly large labels.
Independant music is about networking, and you should always be looking for new relationships.
Please do not email me asking which label to send your stuff to. Please do not send me your demos, sorry. I am not a label and don't have time for personal critiques.
Large index of record labels on the web:
- Jay-Z made $35 million last year - 57% pay cut
- Demos
- Online Promotion
- Jamaica: vinyl is done
- Mastering Houses
- Shawn Fanning's Snocap lays off 60 percent of workforce | Tech news blog - CNET News.com
- Being an Artist
- Macworld UK - Combined music chart "seriously skewed" against indies
- Blackspot Music : The Trouble With Music
- and now the RIAA fucks songwriters too
