Probe 26 1995 Richie Hawtin was going to release some of the Mothering Noise stuff on Probe, but in the process of listening to stuff we ended up going with this crunchy filter tweaked techno-funk stuff. There was a brief 'genre' called Experimental House with Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin. Soon enough, the rest of techno realized we were right (Richie's Hardphunk leading the way), and techno settled back closer to trax/chicago house, and there was no longer a need for another genre name. And 909 hardcore went off in its own direction eventually towards gabba. ekagra is a sanskrit term meaning intense concentration, single mindeness, even to the point of tunnel vision. initially it is a skill, eventually, it is a weakness.
