Mort Aux Vaches Ekstra Extra

I will try to bring my students from the Danish Royal Academy of Music along. – But anyway – – I will present a book – – It’s a schoolbook – – It’s new – – It might be a bit radical – – It’s an alternative and I hope it’s good, but even if it’s not, at least it’s an alternative – – Everyone who attends the class will become a co-composer of my piece Mort Aux Vaches Ekstra Extra – – And – – Everyone who attends the class can, of course, take his or her new composition home – More information about my current work can be found here http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2008/ 01/goodiepal-and-t.html. N.B. – Please be prepared; watch the education program as a sort of homework before you attend the class – – And one more thing – – Please also log into this Gæoudjiparl Facebook profile, make your mark, and bring it to its knees http://www.facebook.com, Email: brobeckhelen@gmail.com, Password: thanx2 – Hope to see you in class. Goodiepal born in Denmark, lives and works in Copenhagen (DK) and London (GB).

cost of gas in germany : $7.71 per gallon

February 1, 2008, 8:05 am

Gas (95) is at a national average of €1,397 per litre which comes to about US-$7.71 per US-gallon with current exchange rates.

$8.80 in Holland

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres
exchange rate today is (yuck) 1.49

I only ride my bike. I don't even take the U-bahn that much.

Currency analysts predict a pullback of the EUR vs. USD to 1.45. It has been hitting 1.45 here and there, but right now its rising again. 1.51 is said to be "unsustainable".

That's my rent going up and my US earnings going down.

Berlin vs. New York Round IV

October 4, 2007, 8:39 am

Why do people live in New York ? There is no relationship between them. Except for an inner electricity which results from the simple fact of their being crowded together. A magical sensation of contiguity and attraction for an artificial centrality. This is what makes it a self-attracting universe, which there is no reason to leave. There is no human reason to be here, except for the sheer ecstasy of being crowded together.

Jean Baudrillard, America 1989

I moved back to Berlin.

I don't know what it is about New York, but it drives me slowly insane. My visits back there over the years have been enjoyable and I figured I should go there to find some new destiny. After 9 months I get worn down by the arrogance and the noise and especially the high rents and food prices. Worn down by always chasing money to fill somebody else's pocket.

Most everybody in New York is trying to get somewhere. That's the point of The City : you go there to make it. So if you aren't Donald Trump, you still haven't made it and you still have to hustle. Everybody is hustling all the time. It rubs off on everyone. I figured it would do me good to get back in the game, but as soon as I got there I didn't feel like playing.

It has to be said that New York and Los Angeles are at the center of the world, even if we find the idea both exciting and disenchanting. We (Europeans) are a desperately long way behind the stupidity and the mutational character, the naive extravagence and the social, racial, moral, morphological, and architectural excentricity of their society. - JB, America

He also says that the Europeans will always be Bourgeoisie. Damned straight, that's why the pastries are so much better here. America is advanced like Derivitaves. Their moral value system is also strangely abstracted in the same way. Perhaps Bush believes that his account will eventually show a Moral Profit if we would only give him a little time, yes the moral hedge fund is down at the moment but ...

I'm back in my old apartment in Berlin now, right off of the canal with the street market and the swans. As soon as I got here I felt more relaxed than I have in months. My ears have finally stopped ringing (somebody needs to take a big bottle of WD-40 to the subway in Union Square) and my meditation feels like I'm making progress again rather than just attempting to keep myself out of the loony bin. I distinctly feel like I'm home.

I was just watching a bunch of amazing kuduro videos on youtube. they are in my player at the bottom of this page. check the one legged guy on top of the car !

I like this genre of african video: just people dancing anywhere and everywhere and then edit all the best stuff together.

its very break dancing / capoeira.

massacres in myanmar

September 30, 2007, 3:27 pm

We just got phone call with our sister living in Yangon about a few
hours ago. We saw on BBC world, saying that 200 monks were arrested.
The true picture is far worse. For one instance, the monastery at an
obscure neighborhood of Yangon, called Ngwe Kyar Yan (on
Wei-za-yan-tar Road, Yangon) had been raided early this morning.

A troop of lone-tein (riot police comprised of paid thugs) protected
by the military trucks, raided the monastery with 200 studying monks.
They systematically ordered all the monks to line up and banged and
crushed each one's head against the brick wall of the monastery. One
by one, the peaceful, non resisting monks, fell to the ground,
screaming in pain. Then, they tore off the red robes and threw them
all in the military trucks (like rice bags) and took the bodies away.

The head monk of the monastery, was tied up in the middle of the
monastery, tortured , bludgeoned, and later died the same day, today.
Tens of thousands of people gathered outside the monastery, warded off
by troops with bayoneted rifles, unable to help their helpless monks
being slaughtered inside the monastery. Their every try to forge ahead
was met with the bayonets.

When all is done, only 10 out of 200 remained alive, hiding in the
monastery. Blood stained everywhere on the walls and floors of the
monastery.

Please tell your audience of the full extent of the fate of the monks
please please !!!!!!!!!!!!
'Arrested' is not enough expression. They have been bludgeoned to death !!!!!!

Not that I think a protest outside the embassy would be very effective. Its not like the miliatry junta particularily cares about their international image.

update: I changed my mind. The protests are to show the UN and western govt's how concerned we are. It causes them to take more action against Myanmar. Even China is postively affected by worldwide opinion. I think China is actually very nervous about it re the Olympics.

Update: they have killed THOUSANDS of monks and dumped the bodies in the jungle.

I am timeblind on myspace. thanks for the add.

I am crucialfelix on del.icio.us which is where I link to all the interesting shit I come across.

I put my photos up on flickr

NYC events iCal : anything that looks good.

Berlin events (parties, shows, vernissage, films): subscribe to google calendar / iCal

When I listen to music at home it all gets echoed onto here and on my Last.fm page. Most of the time I don't use that cause I don't want you to see me obsessively listening to my own mixes, really bad working titles.

You can read some posts I thought were interesting from various feeds.

I've been doing the Dance Music Business Resource since 1995, back when it was on hyperreal.org. Articles and info for artists and small labels. Recently I've been posting interesting industry news items and adding some new content about downloads etc.
