dj-ing at WAF on Monday

October 2, 2005, 10:18 am

I'll be laying on at the Wasserschlacht Armee Freidrichshain am Montag. (Oct 3, 2005 Berlin Rigaerstraße 77 ) Grime (like Terror Danjah, Jammer, Plasticman, D Double, Kano and such things), Ragga Jungle old (remarc!) and new (shitmat!) and the weirder from bashment. Possibly booty too, I'm feeling pleasantly crass.

I'm using Ableton Live now with full the MP3 support. You can really meld things together that otherwise could never be pulled off. DJ-ing finally gets completely merged with live sets ! I've been waiting for 10 years for that. I had a fine-tune bpm control added to my 909 so I could lock it to turntables easier. Then I would drag my Minimoog to raves and run the turntables through it. (and I remember the police busting a party just as I finished setting up with all my gear and turntables 40 feet up in the air on top of a huge farm tractor) Well let's thank laptops for some things but ... the fun and terror of dragging a beautiful 20 year old synth in a fine wood cabinet through a frozen swamp at 5 am... just can't simulate that on a laptop.

Mondays have been great down at the WAF. Lots of people bouncing around to breakcore, hip-hop, well-aged cheese and brilliant on the fly mash-ups by Christian (Society Suckers). One of the best completely fun and not too-cool things in Berlin.

I am timeblind on myspace. thanks for the add.

I am crucialfelix on del.icio.us which is where I link to all the interesting shit I come across.

I put my photos up on flickr

NYC events iCal : anything that looks good.

Berlin events (parties, shows, vernissage, films): subscribe to google calendar / iCal

When I listen to music at home it all gets echoed onto here and on my Last.fm page. Most of the time I don't use that cause I don't want you to see me obsessively listening to my own mixes, really bad working titles.

You can read some posts I thought were interesting from various feeds.

I've been doing the Dance Music Business Resource since 1995, back when it was on hyperreal.org. Articles and info for artists and small labels. Recently I've been posting interesting industry news items and adding some new content about downloads etc.
