the age of recording is truly over

February 21, 2008, 3:28 pm

I am a musician. I release music. I sell music, people actually buy it.

I have NO problem with people also trading it on p2p networks.

I have a big problem with you (russian) assholes SELLING STOLEN FILES to people. You claim you have the right to sell my music, and you base this right on your interpretation of russian copyright law that states that internet downloads are broadcast music, and thus you only have to pay your (pathetic) broadcast license.

So these fake sites pop up all over the internet claiming to sell my music. The files were obtained illegally, I can tell. Many of the sites trace back to Russian businesses.

The money never comes to us the artists. Why should you get any money for this ? I would rather people simply stole it themselves. You can keep out of it. We (my music loving friends and me the artist) have a little game going on. I pretend to sell it, they pretend to buy it. But you ... are a theif and are not welcome in this game.

You were never in possession of a legal master or a legal purchased copy from which to "broadcast".

You may or may not be Jeremybrammer.com

That might be just a front or a way to say "well its an open site, we have no control over what people post there". You may have no connection with this site at all.

In which case Jeremybrammer.com can only be purposely set up to enable spammers, attempted link spam (which won't work anymore god bless you matt cutts), and lame assholes like you. Considering that its basically cloaked and contact-less, there's nothing that looks legitimate about it.

Dreamhost is the provider for this entity. They are asking me to contact a lawyer and file a claim on the in this case irrelevant DMCA (copyright infringement). ( I won't spend more than a few minutes on this matter anyway ).

If a copyrighted work that you own or represent is being used without authorization by a website that DreamHost hosts, you can submit a formal DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice requesting removal of the material. While it is not necessary to have a legal professional prepare the document, it is recommended. Any competent intellectual property attorney should be able to draw up a formal DMCA notice in a few minutes.

No dreamhost, its not that my likeness or images are being used without permission, the fucking pirates are collecting money selling my recordings. You want a lawyer for that ?

This becomes unmangegeable, as I'm sure famous rock stars said of bootlegs long long ago.

I don't really mind it, but ...

OH BTW. PEOPLE I have FOUR RECORDS COMING OUT SOON. STAY TUNED ! Two of them I am so trying to talk the label out of doing vinyl, but you know those label people. They love vinyl and nostalgia.

yeah, OK:
Drastic Adhesive remix - Murder Channel / Strictly Industrial
2 track timeblind 12" on Version - deutsche dubstep label
Laboratory Instinct EP and LP
Secret full length album on super secret label at the final release stage now !

and then two remixes, maybe three that I'm supposed to do.

and then I'm going to tour russia :) christian from society suckers said he sold all of his vinyl in st. petersburg when he went to play there.

Here is the asshole who our music without legal basis:

Links and things

I am timeblind on myspace. thanks for the add.

I am crucialfelix on del.icio.us which is where I link to all the interesting shit I come across.

I put my photos up on flickr

NYC events iCal : anything that looks good.

Berlin events (parties, shows, vernissage, films): subscribe to google calendar / iCal

When I listen to music at home it all gets echoed onto here and on my Last.fm page. Most of the time I don't use that cause I don't want you to see me obsessively listening to my own mixes, really bad working titles.

You can read some posts I thought were interesting from various feeds.

I've been doing the Dance Music Business Resource since 1995, back when it was on hyperreal.org. Articles and info for artists and small labels. Recently I've been posting interesting industry news items and adding some new content about downloads etc.
